It is human nature to resent change. We put up walls of so-called ‘security’ around ourselves, refusing to accept change in any form-that’s when things go wrong.
I feel like I’ve been in a bubble for so long, that now that I see things changing, I feel like they are changing around me faster than they should. I want time to stop-but time’s going to keep changing, no matter how I feel about it. Right now, acceptance is the only way to go.
We get so used to the way things are, we forget to think about how things would be if they were to change, and when they eventually do, it hits us like a ton of bricks. If we lull ourselves into a false sense of security, we may never be able to handle change.
Just watching a pipe dripping in monotone can be so soothing, but how long can you keep watching the same pipe drip? The same sounds, the same sights, the same story-how long can you go through with that? Nothing lasts forever, and even in the case of the pipe, the water will run out sometime. All you can do, is stop for a moment and take a deep breath, and realise that you are not alone. Everyone’s afraid of change. All you have to do face it head on. At the end of it, you’ll realise just how strong you are, and that’s always a pleasant surprise.
